Housing Fact of the Month

Housing assistance is losing ground as a federal priority, when measured as a share of total non-defense discretionary spending. In the last decade, housing assistance as a percentage of the total budget has declined from 10.0% in 1996, to 8.8% in 2001 and 7.7% in 2006.
