On July 24, 2008, Robert E. Mulcahy III and Liz Hance, pictured on the right, the co-chairs of the ten year plan steering committee in Middlesex County presented an overview of the Middlesex County 10 Year Plan to End Chronic and Family Homelessness. To view the Power Point click here.

The timing of the presentation was one year after the kickoff of the ten year planning process.

The 10 Year Plan Areas of Focus are:

Create 520 units of Permanent Affordable and/or Supportive Housing
Create a Single Point of Entry
Prevent Homelessness
Increase Economic Opportunities
Create 501(c)3 to manage the plan

The new non-profit will be:

Coming Home of Middlesex County, Inc.
Dedicated to Ending Homelessness in Our Community

The co-chairs outlined three steps that the Board of Chosen Freeholders need to do to support the Middlesex County 10 Year Plan to End Chronic and Family Homelessness. These are:

Provide one-third of the start-up funding for Coming Home of Middlesex County, Inc.
Establish a Homeless Trust Fund once state enabling legislation is in place.
Continue to provide $1 million in capital funding for housing for the homeless in the county budget.

The Freeholders expressed support for the ten year plan and will discuss at their next meeting the issues raised by the co-chairs.
