Trenton Times published letter about Congressional Reception
Lisa Thibault writes about Congressman Smith’s commitment
Those of us attending were impressed with Rep. Smith’s aides compassionate and informed approach to the lack of affordable housing in New Jersey and we are confident he will do whatever he can to guarantee this most basic human right through support of the Second Chance Act, HUD/SAMSHA funding and reauthorization of the McKinney-Vento Act.
In today’s Trenton Times they published a letter form one of the participants in the July 30th Congressional Reception. We are pleased to republish the letter from our friend Lisa Thibault. We encourage others who attended the Congressional Reception to submit letters to their local newspapers.
Our Congressman work to end homelessness
Dear Editor:
I thank Rep Chris Smith, R-Hamilton for making sure Dave Kush, his senior housing aide, took time out during a particularly busy day while congress was still in session July 30, to attend the Second Annual Congressional Reception to End Homelessness in New Jersey. More than 200 New Jersey residents traveled down to Washington D.C. to participate in this event, held at the Russell Senate Office Building.
Those of us attending were impressed with Rep. Smith’s compassionate and informed approach to the lack of affordable housing in New Jersey and we are confident he will do whatever he can to guarantee this most basic human right through support of the Second Chance Act, HUD/SAMSHA funding and reauthorization of the McKinney-Vento Act.
I also want to express heartfelt appreciation to U.S. Sens. Frank Lautenberg and Bob Menendez, both of whom spent considerable time talking with us and responding to questions.
Sincerely,
Lisa Thibault
