On January 26, 2010 Mercer County hosted its fourth annual Project Homeless Connect Event. The First Baptist Church was vibrant with volunteers, service providers and over 250 participants. Mercer County offered participants innovative services including a new ID program. Interested participants were given the ability to start the first phase of a two part process in obtaining a county ID. First piloted at the Mercer County Summer 2009 PHC event, the program has become very popular and successfully connected 70% of the participants with County IDs. In addition to the ID program, participants were treated to hair cuts, hot meals, housing applications, service information and many give aways.
