House Focuses on Homeless Children

February 7th Review of H.R. 32, the
Homeless Children and Youth Act

Representative Judy Biggert The House on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity is expected to hold a February 7, 2012 that will include Chair ’s (R-IL) H.R. 32, the Homeless Children and Youth Act.

As Background, H.R. 32, was introduced on January 5, 2011. Representative Judy Biggert (R-IL), chair of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Insurance, Housing and Community Opportunity, introduced the bill to expand the definition of “homelessness.” It amends the definition under the Act to include children and youth who have been verified as homeless. Ms. Biggert introduced an identical bill in 2009, but it did not pass.

In 2009, McKinney-Vento Act were reauthorized and the was expanded through the Act.
