Will Cover Proposed Funding Legislation And How You Can Help

On Wednesday, July 25, 2012, the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) and President and CEO Sheila Crowley will host a webinar on the latest opportunities for funding the National Housing Trust Fund. The session will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
As background, Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) is considering legislation that would provide dedicated funding for the NHTF through reform of the Mortgage Interest Deduction (MID), consistent with the National Low Income Housing Coalition’s proposal on MID reform. The legislation would provide substantial dedicated annual funding for the NHTF to expand the supply of rental housing that is affordable for extremely low-income households while increasing the number of low and moderate income homeowners that receive a tax benefit.
The webinar will cover:
- what is expected to be in the Ellison bill,
- how the NHTF will operate, and
- immediate steps that advocates can take.
