Join Monarch Housing and National Partners in Endorsing Proposal
The National Housing Trust Fund Campaign, organized by the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC), is seeking organizational endorsements of a proposal to reform the mortgage interest deduction and direct savings from the reform to the National Housing Trust Fund.
Monarch Housing Associations has signed on with its endorsement. Will you join us?
Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), is planning on introducing the legislation in September. It is important to have a strong backing among low-income housing and homelessness advocates for the proposal to ensure it receives widespread support across Congress.
At an August 1 hearing of the Senate Banking Committee Housing and Urban Affairs Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development, Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) also said that he will continue to work to fund the National Housing Trust Fund and that he would work with all of his colleagues to achieve this goal. Senator Reed asked what benefits the NHTF could bring.
NLIHC’s Linda Couch, testifying at the hearing, said that because of its deep income targeting, the NHTF could set the nation on a path to ending worst case housing needs and ending homelessness in the United States.
There might be an additional benefit, particularly at this moment,” Senator Reed said. “Putting people back to work building rental properties, renovating rental properties. We have a very weak housing market.”

The National Housing Trust Fund when funded will provide NJ with $34.5 million dollars a year to build affordable and supportive housing. This will not happen unless you join us in endorsing this campaign. Will join with Monarch Housing to insure the NHTF becomes a reality?
