GOP Convention Host City Faces Problem Romney Has No Plans to Alleviate
Tampa, Florida has the highest homeless rate in the country:
- There are 57 homeless people for every 10,000 city residents;
- About 16,000 people are homeless in the city; and
- 1 in every 5 homeless people is a child.
And it is doubtful that Governor Romney will discuss any plans to end homelessness while he is in town for the convention.
In fact, last spring he was overheard saying that he would eliminate HUD, which would mean the end to Section 8 and other critical housing programs. And Congressman Ryan’s budget could eliminate housing assistance for 1 million households.
