State’s Southern Counties Awarded $1.2 Million for Veterans Services
The Volunteers of America of Delaware Valley has been awarded $1.2 million from the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for a Homeless Providers Grant and Per Diem Program (GPD) “Transition in Place” program.
The program will provide services to 25 veterans living in scattered site apartments in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester and Mercer Counties in New Jersey and also Philadelphia.
The “Transition in Place” program allows veterans the opportunity to take over the payment of their lease instead of having to move out of their apartment once they no longer need the VA’s services. This innovative program, which is being funded for the first time, promotes increased housing stabilization.
The New Jersey/Pennsylvania program is one of 31 “Transition in Place” programs that funded across the country.
