Welcome to Monarch's
Ending Homelessness Team!

The Ending Homelessness Team at Monarch Housing Associates has significant expertise in the preparation of CoC applications and the related homeless planning activities. In 2004, Monarch Housing Associates worked with five continuums of care in New Jersey. All of which were funded and received funding at a higher level than in prior years. The two highest ranked continuums were ones that Monarch worked with. In addition, Monarch was the consultant for five of the top ten CoCs. In 2005 Monarch Housing Associates worked with seven counties and again all were funded.  The top three (3) ranked continuums in the state were counties that we worked with, and all were ranked in the top eleven with scores several points above the cut off for funding.  Also, the counties that we worked with either increased their score or rank from the previous year.  In the fall of 2005 Monarch began working to develop two Ten-Year Plans to End Chronic Homelessness with counties in New Jersey.  In 2006, Monarch submitted Continuum of Care applications on behalf of eleven (11) counties, representing the majority of the state.  Currently.  Currently we are working with fourteen (14) of the twenty-one (21) counties in the state to develop continuum of care applications, two (2) counties on Ten Year Plans and are involved at varying levels with others working to coordinate their homeless planning efforts. Middlesex County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness Kick Off
was a stunning success

FreeholderMore than one hundred fifty (150) people attended the July 24, 2007, Middlesex County Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness Kick Off. The event was held at Elijah’s Promise Parking Lot on Abeel Street in New Brunswick, New Jersey. “We want to end homelessness in Middlesex County. It is a goal that is obtainable, but only if we all commit to work together,” said county Freeholder Blanquita Valenti.

The group expects to have a draft of the plan completed for review in late December 2007. The work behind drafting the planning document will be done by the three Task Forces that have been identified.

Pictured on the left is Freeholder Director David B. Crabiel. Photos and audio from the Kickoff are now online. To view the photos click here. To view the slide show click here.

All TogetherThe First Annual Congressional Reception was an outstanding success. New Jersey was well represented today by more than one hundred (100) people including the formerly homeless, passionate advocates and housing providers from across the state. People traveled by train, bus and car to get here this afternoon because of the importance of this event.

In the photo are left to right are Alison Badgett, Mercer Alliance to End Homelessness, Alison Recca-Ryan, Corporation for Supportive Housing, Senator Menendez, Richard W. Brown, Monarch Housing Associates, Senator Lautenberg, Joyce Campbell, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Trenton.
