On Friday, June 20, 2008 Ocean County hosted its first Ocean County Workforce Housing Summit. With a wide range of participants, the summit brought together non-profits, local, county, and state government, the religious community and other interested parties to discuss the issue of workforce housing in Ocean County. Held at the Mancini Hall in the Ocean County Library, Toms River Branch, the event was filled to capacity with over 150 attendees.

The day opened with an introduction by Kathy Jaworski, Ocean County HSAC coordinator, and a welcome by Freeholder Gerry Little. Both he and Freehold Director Joseph Vicari spoke about the importance of looking at the issue of workforce housing in Ocean County. Throughout Ocean County, as well as across the state, more and more people find themselves unable to afford housing in the communities they work in. Read the rest of this entry »
