The New Jersey Department of Education’s 2010 annual survey of schools identified six thousand two hundred and twenty-eight (6,228) homeless students. This was a decline of one hundred sixty-nine (169) students or 2.64% from 2009. As a result of the HEARTH changes these numbers indicate an area CoC’s and the education community need to collaborate to end family homelessness.
Thirteen (13) counties had an increase in the number of homeless students.
