The Alliance will host a Congressional Briefing, “Showing Results: Federal, State and Local Responses to Homelessnessâ€, March 12th @ 12:30 in the US Capitol.

How?: Call your Member of Congress’s offices and ask to speak with the staff person who deals with housing and homelessness issues. You can say to the staff:

“(City) has been a leader in the development of model programs which prevent and end homelessness and it would be an honor for (Senator/Representative) to show his/her support by co-sponsoring the briefing.â€

Congressional Briefing Details: DAY: Monday, March 12, 2007 TIME: 12:30 – 1:30 PM PLACE: U.S. Capitol – Room S-207 RSVP: Contact Sarah Kahn, or 202-942-8259 – BY MONDAY, MARCH 5TH
If you are interested in working on the above tasks please contact Sarah Kahn at the Alliance (202-942-8259) so we can track progress being made with Congressional offices and collect RSVPs for the briefing.
Background: As mentioned, our goal for the Congressional briefing is to educate Members of Congress on the effect federal policy has on their state and home districts so they are prepared to take action on key policies in 2007.
By asking Members of Congress to co-sponsor the briefing we are giving them an opportunity to show their support for ending homelessness early in the year. This will make it easier to call on them to support policy change when we need it.
