On Thursday, June 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will host an online workshop on energy retrofit strategies for single-family properties. Workshop faculty includes Howard Katzman and Bill Asdal, of Asdal Builders/Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing; and Rick Karg, of R.J. Karg Associates. Chandler Von Schrader of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will moderate the workshop. The session will cover basic techniques for incorporating energy efficiency in housing rehabilitation projects through a “whole house approach,” strategies for home remodeling projects that incorporate energy efficiency, and basic diagnostic techniques for assessing areas of heat loss and to test for combustion safety. Case studies from a variety of climate zones will be presented. For more information on the Webcast, click here. For more information on HUD’s energy training Webcast series, click here.
