THE URBAN LAND Institute of Northern New Jersey (ULI-NNJ) will co-sponsor an event titled “High Performance Redevelopment: A Conference on Brownfield Redevelopment, Green Buildings, Energy and Affordable and Sustainable Housing,” on June 8, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Brownfield remediation, one of the topics to be discussed at this event, has become an important issue in New Jersey as developers and municipal officials have become increasingly hard-pressed to find greenfields to build on.
Developers are now focusing on the reuse of brownfields, or former industrial properties. “Green” design, another subject that will be discussed at the conference, is also becoming an important issue as more and more architects and developers look for ways to construct buildings that use less energy.
The cost to register for the conference is $125. For government officials, not-for-profit employees and students the cost is $75.
