Homeless and Special Needs Housing Work Group Announces Public Comment Meetings

This important notice about the hearings is from our friends Alison Recca-Ryan and the Rev. Bruce Davidson, the co-chairs of the Housing Policy Task Force. We encourage everyone to attend the hearings and make their opinions heard. The hearings will be held on January 10 and 11, 2008.

jdoria_color_web.jpg A Housing Policy Task Force, charged by the NJ Department of Community Affairs, Commissioner Joe Doria, has been assembled to develop a Housing Policy Report that will address the realm of housing needs in New Jersey which will include affordable housing, homeless and special needs housing, workforce housing, mixed-income housing, and community/urban revitalization. The result of this effort will be a balanced and coordinated plan with which to develop an implement able, comprehensive housing plan for New Jersey.

The Homeless and Special Needs Housing Sub Committee will be conducting Public Comment Forums to allow interested parties an opportunity to make recommendations for the future direction and development of affordable housing for these populations. We are very interested in your views and invite you to provide public comment at one of the Forums listed below.

We ask that you address the following priorities when preparing your public comment. While your public comments will be limited to 3 minutes, your written comments may be more extensive. Oral comments are limited to one person per agency or organization. All persons who provide oral public comments must provide a written copy of their comments on the day of the public meeting. to the extent possible, please limit your comments to the specific topic of the public meeting. If you wish to only submit written comments on any or all of the points below, please submit your comments to the Corporation for Supportive Housing, either via e-mail to Barbara Dohrenwend or via fax at 609-392-7818. All written comments must be submitted by January 10, 2007.
