197 NJ Projects Renewed
HUD announced on December 20, 2011, the renewal awards from the 2011 Continuum of Care competition. Overall almost $1.47 billion was approved. This is the third year in a row that HUD quickly provided renewal grants to local programs to prevent any interruption in federal assistance. The funding is $62 million more than last year, the most homeless assistance ever awarded by HUD.
HUD will announce funding to new projects later this year.
In New Jersey a total of one hundred ninety-seven (197) renewal projects were approved for a total of $25,037,712. This was an increase of $2,663,820.00 form 2010. The total number of projects increased by twenty-five.
Monarch Housing worked with fourteen (14) of the nineteen (19) CoC’s this year and one hundred-thirty-seven of the renewal projects totaling $16,378,191.
This year, Warren, Sussex and Hunterdon Counties CoC’s merged and submitted a joint application.
