On Friday, January 6, 2012, the National Alliance to End Homelessness (the Alliance) released a new brief that provides recommendations to communities on implementing the new Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). The recommendations are based on lessons from the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP) and other similar initiatives across the country.
The brief makes recommendations regarding program design, targeting, and systems coordination and measurement. It also highlights specific communities that have adopted innovative and effective approaches to homelessness prevention and rapid re-housing.
In addition, the Alliance recently released a summary of the ESG regulation, which went into effect on January 4. The Alliance also anticipates publishing its comments on the ESG regulation shortly.
