While his priority is assisting the 100,000 families in the region whose homes were affected by the storm, he must also take into consideration more long-term issues such as buy-outs and climate change.
Said Donovan in his interview,
“One of the things the president has made clear to me is we have to rebuild not exactly what was there before. We have to rebuild smarter and stronger to make sure that we minimize the enormous damage to people’s live and their families and their communities that we saw in this storm.”
He is urging Congress to approve assistance for those affected by Sandy so that the rebuilding process can begin.
