633,782 people experienced homeless on a single night in the United States and that, while the total number of people experiencing homelessness has remained the same since January 2011, the number has decreased by 5.7% since 2007; and
Among persons in families, homelessness has increased by 1.4% since 2011, but has decreased by 3.7% since 2007.
The report shows that New Jersey as a state is home to 2.1% of the United States’ total homeless population and that :
Jersey City/Bayonne/Hudson County saw a 36% increase in homelessness (551 people);
Bergen County saw a 70% decrease in homelessness (1,067 people); and
Paterson/Passaic saw a 40% decrease in homelessness (329 people.)
