The grants expected to be awarded during this cycle have a target allocation of $5 million.
“There are so many worthy organizations on the ground day in and day out providing critical services to those in need in the hardest hit areas around New Jersey. They want and can do more with greater financial support. We are proud to partner with them and are looking forward to efficiently disbursing funding that will help the long-term recovery effort in this state,” said First Lady Mary Pat Christie, Chair of the Fund.
In December, the Fund allocated $1 million to county-based Long Term Recovery Committees (LTRCs). Per FEMA recommendations, LTRCs are created in the wake of a disaster to coordinate community-based organizations, non-profits, business groups and others to aid in the recovery effort long after immediate relief organizations like the Red Cross and FEMA have left the area.
The minimum grant request is $10,000 and the deadline for the current grant cycle is Friday, March 15, 2013.
