On Friday, March 15, 2013, the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development(HUD) is holding a stakeholder call with Deputy Secretary Maurice Jones from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Deputy Secretary Jones will address the potential impacts of sequestration on HUD programs and operations.
As Monarch Housing has been reporting, due to the inability of Congress to pass legislation on a balanced deficit reduction to avoid sequestration, the President was required by law to issue a sequestration order on March 1, 2013 canceling approximately $85 billion in budgetary resources across the Federal government for the remainder of the Federal fiscal year. At this time, HUD is taking every step possible to mitigate the effects of these cuts.
HUD has developed an external website to provide agency stakeholders with timely information. Please check the website periodically as HUD will be updating it frequently.
To participate in the call, please RSVP here by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2013 and then call (800) 553-5275. The call’s title is “Sequestration Stakeholder Call.” The call is off-the-record and not for press purposes.
