United for Homes Campaign

Help fund the National
Housing Trust Fund

United for Homes CampaignThe National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) has launched its United for Homes Campaign. The campaign will reshape U.S. tax policy to make affordable housing more available to the nation’s 10.1 million extreme low-income renter households.

At it’s center is a proposal to modify the mortgage interest deduction for higher income Americans and invest the savings in the National Housing Trust Fund (NHTF) which was established to serve low-income housing needs. NJ could receive $33.3 million a year if the NHTF is funded!

The number of campaign endorsers has climbed to 961 and Monarch Housing Associates is proud to be one of those endorsers. Please help the NLIHC get to 1,000 endorsers! Click here to make your organization an endorser.

The task before us now is to convince other Members of Congress to co-sponsor H.R. 1213. Monarch Housing plans to share the NLIHC call–to-action which is expected next week.

You can also join the next monthly webinar for campaign endorsers, which will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. The webinar brief you on the details of H.R. 1213 and the findings of their recent public opinion poll, and to answer all of your questions.

The NLIHC has committed $1 million to the campaign to help assure its success. The Honorable Edward W. Brooke, III, former Senator from Massachusetts, will serve as Honorary Chair of the campaign. And Marian Wright Edelman of the Children’s Defense Fund and Peter Edelman of the Georgetown University Law Center will be Honorary Co-Chairs.
