Act Now to Protect HUD, HOME Funding

Deadline for Organizations April 30th

Act Now to Protect HUD, HOME FundingTo ensure that adequate funding is available for HUD and HOME in FY14, we need your help today. There are two key steps that every organization in NJ can take.

  • Have Your Organization Sign the Letter to Congressional Appropriators.

Tell Congress to Allocate Increased Funding for the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Subcommittee.

The House and Senate Committees on Appropriations will soon decide how much funding each appropriations subcommittee will receive in fiscal year 2014, including funding for the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD) subcommittee.  The FY13 THUD 302(b) allocation was 24% below the FY10 enacted level, even before sequestration.

It’s critical that House and Senate Appropriators know that your organization supports increasing the amount of FY14 appropriations funding available for the Departments of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Transportation (DOT).

Please also encourage the organizations in your network to sign by April 30.

Last year, over 1,700 organizations signed a letter to Congressional appropriators in support of increasing the 302(b) allocation of funding for the THUD bill. The letter made a positive impact on the amount of funding available to HUD and DOT. Let’s get 2,000+ organizations to sign on this year!

  • Ask NJ’s Senators to Sign On for HOME Program Funding

The new “Dear Colleague” letter requests $1.2 billion for HOME in FY 2014.

Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) and Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) are circulating a “Dear Colleague” letter and fact sheet on the Home Investment Partnerships Program. The deadline for signatures is Tuesday, April 23.

Call Jason Lallis in Senator Menendez’s office 202-224-4744.

Call Joe Heaton in Senator Lautenberg’s office 202-225-0778.

Urge our Senators to show support for HOME by signing the “Dear Colleague” letter and by including funding for HOME in their personal requests to the THUD Subcommittee.
