Among other things, the legislation would provide an increased disaster allocation of Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) by increasing the per capita rate to $8, provide $250 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) and provide tax-exempt bonds for Sandy-impacted areas.
The Housing and Community Development Network of NJ, Monarch Housing Associates along with other partners in NJ, NY and CT have prepared a letter thanking our legislators for introducing the legislation and encouraging its quick passage. Signing the letter will pledge your organization’s support to work with Congress to have the legislation enacted.
Please sign your organization on to this letter thanking Representative Pascrell and the other original co-sponsors for their leadership in reintroducing the legislation, making the case for additional allocations of LIHTC, NMTC and tax exempt bonds, and pledging to work with Congress to have the legislation enacted. The letter will also be sent, as a carbon copy to the Chair and Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee, House leadership, and Senators from Sandy impacted states.
Please circulate this sign-on request widely – we need a strong showing of NY, NJ, CT, regional and national groups signed on. The deadline to sign the letter is June 21.
