Memphis-Shelby Decreases Homelessness
Alliance Releases Community Snapshot
The National Alliance to End Homelessness (the Alliance) has released a Community Snapshot of Memphis-Shelby County, Tennessee that provides an overview of the community’s progress on ending homelessness.
From 2012 to 2013,
- Overall homelessness in Memphis-Shelby County decreased by 12.5% and
- Chronic homelessness among individuals decreased by 17%.
Community stakeholders identified
- An increase in the supply of permanent supportive housing, prioritization of chronic homelessness, and
- Conversion of transitional housing
as instrumental in reaching these decreases.
