Anderson Cooper: Housing First Is
Ending Homelessness in Nashville

60 Minutes Profiles 100KHomes CampaignOn February 9, 2014, on 60 Minutes, Anderson Cooper profiled the 100,000 Homes Campaign.

The story highlighted the Campaign’s partnership with a local team in Nashville, TN, which has found housing for more than 360 chronically homeless residents since June 2013.

Cooper interviewed Campaign Director, former Army Captain Becky Kanis, who explained why focusing on the most vulnerable people is such a crucial part of the Campaign’s strategy for ending homelessness.

The 100,000 Homes Campaign is about seeking out the sickest, longest term homeless Americans on our streets and doing whatever it takes to end their homelessness. Using the Housing First best practice model changes lives and saves taxpayers money.

So far, 235 participating communities have housed more than 82,000 homeless Americans, including more than 23,000 veterans. The Campaign expects that number to top 100,000 as early as June!
