How Schools and Communities Respond
On Friday, April 4, 2014, the People’s Emergency Center is hosting a forum, “Schools and Communities Responding to Students Experiencing Homelessness and High Mobility.”
This forum will be held from 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. It is the fourth in the Growing Up Homeless series.
This session will feature two nationally acclaimed leaders in homeless education:
- Peter Miller, an associate professor in Educational Leadership & Policy Analysis at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, is a leading researcher and advocate for students without homes.
- Dr. John McLaughlin is the federal coordinator for the United States Department of Education’s Prevention and Intervention Programs for Children and Youth Who are Neglected, Delinquent, or At Risk, and the Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program.
The UW of Greater Philadelphia and Southern NJ is located at 1709 Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia.
