Subsidized Housing Basics
The National Housing Law Project announced the fourth and final free training webinar in its Subsidized Housing Basics series, “Subsidized Housing Basics, Part 4: Housing Opportunities for People with AIDS (HOPWA) and McKinney-Vento Homelessness Programs.”
On Thursday, May 8, the 75-minute webinar will discuss the basics of each program and attendees will have opportunities to ask questions. This webinar will be held on Thursday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m.
The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act portion of the webinar will discuss the important features of the Act, as amended by the Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing Act (HEARTH), including the Emergency Solutions Grant program and the Continuum of Care program. Best practices that advocates can use to support clients will be presented.
The HOPWA portion of the webinar will discuss program basics, including: tips for telling whether a client is participating in HOPWA, who is eligible for the program, how the admissions process works, how much rent clients pay, rules regarding evictions, and helpful resources.
