Count Scheduled for Tuesday, January 27 Wednesday, January 28, 2015
All twenty-one New Jersey counties will participate in NJ Counts conducting a statewide Point in Time count of the sheltered and un-sheltered homeless.
The Count’s results will continue to guide planning efforts to end homelessness across the state.
Monarch Housing Associates is committed to helping communities to make NJ Counts 2015, this year’s Point-In-Time Count of the homeless, the most accurate one-night snapshot of homelessness across our state as possible.
In addition to providing in-person training sessions for each community, Monarch has also created the following resources for agencies, volunteers, and community leaders participating in the count.
NJ Counts is designed to understand the nature of New Jersey’s homeless population so that limited resources can most appropriately meet their needs and end homelessness.
Between January 27-28, 2015, volunteers will seek out homeless residents in shelters, woods, under bridges, in vacant buildings and other locations where they are forced to live because there is insufficient affordable or supportive housing and/or other suitable living arrangements for them. Every other year, including 2015, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) mandates that local communities conduct an un-sheltered count.
Please contact your local Point-In-Time Coordinator for more information about local planning efforts and trainings with Monarch staff.
