Congress Should Support Housing Choice Voucher Funding

Urge Your Representative to Sign House
FY 2016 THUD Dear Colleague Letter

Funding Housing Choice Vouchers in FY 2016Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-10th/NY) is sponsoring a Dear Colleague letter in support of Housing Choice Voucher funding in the House FY2016 THUD appropriations bill.

Please reach out to your Representatives and ask him or her to sign onto the letter.

The deadline to sign the letter is Friday, March 13, 2015.

The letter makes the basic ask for critical funding to:

  • $18.3 billion to renew all existing vouchers
  • $512 million to fully restore all vouchers lost under sequestration, and to target some of these vouchers to homeless veterans, families, and victims of domestic violence.
  • $2.02 billion for administrative fees to ensure state and local housing agencies have the staff and resources they need to effectively administer the program.

Vouchers are a stepping stone that help families with children, seniors, and people with disabilities keep a roof over their head and make ends meet.
