Congress Should Reauthorize CHIP
Monarch Housing Associates was pleased to sign on to a letter urging the New Jersey Congressional delegation to support reauthorizing Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) funding.
The letter asks for a four-year extension of federal funding for the program which expires on September 30, 2015.
CHIP “provides critical health coverage to children where families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but not enough to afford other coverage.”
This critical program reduces potential future healthcare costs by providing preventative care. In fiscal year (FY) 2013, 206,761 children in New Jersey received health coverage through CHIP.
