VAWA 2013 features expanded protections for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking who are applying for or have federally subsidized housing. Prior to the 2013 Act, VAWA only applied to the public housing and voucher programs.
VAWA 2013 added a number of HUD programs, such as Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities, homeless programs under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, and the HOME Investments Partnership program. The proposed rule would also include the National Housing Trust Fund.
The proposed rule also offers:
A model emergency transfer plan,
A VAWA housing rights notice, and
A VAWA self-certification form to be used by survivors across all HUD programs.
The webinar is designed for advocates and others who have a basic understanding of VAWA 2013’s provisions and would like to learn about HUD’s proposed rule.
