Project Live Holds Dedication Service on June 13th
- The naming of a local street after him,
- The dedication of their multi-purpose office, supportive housing and self-help center in Fr. Bob’s memory, and
- The establishment of a scholarship fund for staff to pursue advanced degrees or certification.
This is from the official program:
The Reverend Robert J Cormier or Fr. Bob, as he was affectionately called, has left an indelible mark in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. It has been a year and a month since his untimely and tragic death. Over these thirteen months, there were several memorial services in Jersey City, Cranford and in Newark, there were many beautiful tributes in the media and an overwhelming outpouring of love and admiration for a man, a Priest, a teacher and friend who touched the lives of so many people in such a short span of life.
We at Project Live were blessed to have Fr. Bob as a Board Member, Board President and a dear friend for twenty-four years. We will never forget him.
We are very pleased that the City of Newark through the kindness of the Honorable Councilman Anibal Ramos has renamed a street after him.
The Board of Trustees have chosen to dedicate the Multi-purpose building which houses Project Live’s administrative offices, five supportive housing apartments and a Self-Help Center in Fr. Bob’s memory.
Fr. Bob showed a keen interest in the welfare not only of the residents but also of the staff. He strongly advocated for just and fair compensation for all staff for their dedicated service to our residents. In his name, the Board has chosen to start a scholarship fund for staff that wishes to pursue an advance degree or professional credentials. We welcome any donations toward this fund.
