Run/Walk to Fight Stigma, Raise Awareness Around Mental IllnessMonarch Housing Associates is proud to partner for a 3rd year with MHANJ and fundraise through its Fight Stigma, Raise Awareness walk and run events.

Here are the key details for the Northern New Jersey event:

Saturday, October 3, 2015
Registration Begins: 8:30 -9:30 a.m.
5K Run Start: 9:45 a.m.
Walk Start: 10:00 a.m.
One Ridge Park, 136 Oak Ridge Road, Clark, NJ

  • $30 5K registration fee
  • No walker registration fee but earn incentives
  • No charge for children 12 and under and dogs

Fighting stigma and raising awareness around mental illness and substance use disorders is linked to Monarch’s work to create homes for the homeless.

NJ Counts 2015 found that 42% of homeless persons reported having some type of disability. The most common disabilities included mental health issues and substance abuse disorders. Among disabled adults, 56% reported mental health issues making it the most prevalent disability.
