House and Senate Propose Budget Harmful to PATH Program

Protect SAMHSA Budget Homeless Services Funding CutsMonarch Housing Associates has joined the National Alliance to End Homelessness, CSH and the National Alliance on Mental Illness in signing a letter urging the leadership of the Labor, Health and Human Services and Education Appropriations Subcommittee to spare critical Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) homeless programs from harmful funding cuts.

Of particular concerns are the proposed cuts to the Projects for Assistance in Transition from Homelessness (PATH) program. Currently the House proposes a 15% cut to PATH and the Senate proposes a 38% cut.

The PATH program is an important part of the network of services for homeless persons with severe mental illness.
