Latino Motion on Homeless and Shelter Services and Housing
Earlier this month, SNJ Today featured an interview with Diane Strozyk, Director of the Cumberland County Division of Homeless and Tammy Morris, Executive Director of the Cumberland Family Shelter. The two appeared on the program, Latino Motion, a TV show on the local 22/Comcast station.
Diane spoke about NJCounts 2015, the local point in time count of the homeless that took place in January 2015 and the rental assistance programs offered by Cumberland County. There are a few programs in the county that specifically assist homeless veterans. She walked viewers through how someone calling for assistance is connected to shelter and rental assistance.
Cumberland County has merged with Camden, Cape May and Gloucester Counties to better plan at a regional level to plan for the creation of affordable housing in the region.
Tammy gave an overview of how the Cumberland County Shelter operates including the population it serves and how it provides shelter assistance.
The television program then went on to interview a representative from Covenant House speaking about the work being done to end youth homelessness in South Jersey.
