Congress Should Raise the Caps

Monarch Joins National Supportive Housing
Coalition in Voucher Funding Advocacy

Caps Hurt Communities! The National Supportive Housing Coalition has sent Congressional leadership staff a letter encouraging Congress to raise the sequester spending caps for fiscal year (FY) 2016 to allow housing, community development and service programs that assist the most vulnerable populations to be adequately funded.

Monarch Housing Associates is one of the over 30 organizations across the country that signed the letter.

Rental assistance is critical in creating permanent supportive housing that is affordable. The federal Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program provides on-going rental assistance to families with children, individuals, veterans and seniors who have experienced homelessness.

Congress should raise the caps and pass appropriations bills that increase access to affordable housing for the most vulnerable households and makes supportive services more available to high-needs populations.
