Fight Stigma/Walk Run for Awareness Postponed To Nov 7th

Still Time to Support Monarch’s Partnership in Fighting Stigma and Raising Awareness

Help Us Fight Stigma, Walk for Awareness on Oct 3Due to the inclement weather on Saturday, October 3, 2015, the Mental Health Association in New Jersey‘s Fight Stigma, Walk and Run for Awareness scheduled for Saturday has been postponed. Monarch Housing Associates is a proud partner in this event.

The Walk/Run will be held on Saturday, November 7 at the same time and location.

Here are the key details for the Northern New Jersey event:

Saturday, November 7, 2015
Registration Begins: 8:30 -9:30 a.m.
5K Run Start: 9:45 a.m.
Walk Start: 10:00 a.m.
One Ridge Park, 136 Oak Ridge Road, Clark, NJ

  • $30 5K registration fee
  • No walker registration fee but earn incentives
  • No charge for children 12 and under and dogs

Fighting stigma and raising awareness around mental illness and substance use disorders is linked to Monarch’s work to create homes for the homeless.

NJ Counts 2015 found that 42% of homeless persons reported having some type of disability. The most common disabilities included mental health issues and substance abuse disorders. Among disabled adults, 56% reported mental health issues making it the most prevalent disability.
