NJ Must Reimpose Time Limit

More than 500,000 Stand to Lose SNAP BenefitsThis year, as many as 1 million of the nation’s poorest could be cut off from food assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps).

Thanks to a new move to reinstate time limits, unemployed individuals between the ages of 18-49 who are not disabled or caring for children will lose food assistance benefits after three months, regardless of how hard they are looking for work.

New Jersey is one of 19 states that must reimpose the time limit in 2016 because parts of the state no longer qualify for a waiver.
