Effective Voter Registration for NJ

Understanding and Overcoming the Challenges
April 13th Network Webinar at 10 AM

On Wednesday, April 13, 2016, the Housing and Community Development Network of NJ and the National Low Income Housing Coalition (NLIHC) is hosting a webinar, “Effective Voter Registration Efforts for New Jersey” from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

New Jersey renters and their allies need to be a strong presence in the upcoming 2016 elections.

This presentation will:

  • Provide best practices for training advocates and service providers on how to carry out non-partisan voter engagement efforts with low income residents,
  • Provide background information on the importance of tenant voting and discuss the rules governing voter registration efforts for 501(c)3 organizations in New Jersey,
  • Review the NLIHC Voterization Plan and provide tips for voter registration drives, and
  • Explore efforts to suppress voter turnout and the various resources available to local voter registration campaigns.

A strong voter turnout by low income residents in the high-stakes 2016 elections is essential to making affordable housing a high priority.
