Self-Reported Data Among Veterans

Project Based Vouchers for Homeless VeteransThe National Center on Homelessness Among Veterans has released a research brief on Identifying and Serving Veterans Accessing Community-based Homeless Services: A Study of Three U.S. Cities.

The brief highlights:

  • Los Angeles, CA, and
  • New York, NY.

Key findings includes:

  • Between 62.9% and 68.4% of Veterans were correctly classified as Veterans by their municipal shelter system.
  • Approximately one-third of Veterans were not accurately identified.
  • Multi-year data demonstrates improved accuracy in self-reported data in the Homeless Management Information System over time.
