Training Focuses on Advancing Housing Advocacy With Messaging and Social Media
On September 13, 2016, over 15 housing and homelessness advocates gathered at the Housing and Community Development Network’s conference room for a “Messaging and Social Media Tools for Housing Advocates” training.
Ehren Dohler from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, Nina Arce from the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey and Monarch Housing’s Kate Kelly presented at the training.
This training built on the success of the July 13, 2016 Congressional Reception in Washington, DC. The workshop was a great opportunity for advocates to strengthen their housing advocacy tools.
Attendees learned how to make events, media outreach, social media and housing advocacy work together. The training was tailored to individuals who handle communications, outreach and/or advocacy for their organizations.
Attendees brought their examples of their own work around messaging and using the various forms of media and social media. The group edited these and shared suggestions on how to improve messaging and social media outreach.
Monarch Housing looks forward to reading about the work of training attendees in the press and also seeing their progress on social media!
If you are interested in making messaging and media tools a part of your housing advocacy work, please reach out to Kate Kelly at Monarch Housing Associates.
