Giving Tuesday Because There’s Still A Lot More Work to Do
Did you know that NJCounts 2016 found 8,941 men, women and children experiencing homelessness on January 26, 2016? Giving Tuesday donations can help end homelessness in NJ.
The 2016 count was a 12% decrease from the findings of NJCounts 2015.
What will NJCounts 2017 find on January 25, 2017?
Hopefully the numbers will continue to go down but even still, any number, in the thousands or even hundreds, of New Jerseyans experiencing homelessness is to many.
On November 17, 2016, Monarch Housing’s Taiisa Kelly, Senior Associate with the Ending Homelessness Team told NJ.Com “We are moving in the right direction but we are still focused on the unfortunate fact that almost 9,000 people are homeless,” Kelly said. “There’s still a lot more work to do.”
In July 2016, Robert Hedden of Mercer County and Theresa Pringle of Elizabeth were among the over 350 advocates who traveled to DC to tell New Jersey’s congressional delegation just how much work was left to do!
Please donate today to help Monarch Housing fulfill its vision that every person will have quality affordable, permanent housing that fosters freedom, independence and community integration.
