HUD Funding Appropriations Letters Receive NJ Support

NJ House Leaders Show Support HUD Funding for McKinney-Vento, CDBG, Housing Choice Voucher, Housing for Vulnerable Populations and HOME

Thank you to the New Jersey Members of Congress who signed “Dear Colleague” letters supporting robust HUD funding for Homes for the Homeless.

We greatly appreciate their leadership in pushing the Appropriations Subcommittee leadership to fund solutions to homelessness.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, seven members of New Jersey’s delegation signed a “Dear Colleague” letter supporting robust HUD funding for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. The letter urges the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development House Appropriations Subcommittee leadership to fund CDBG at the level of at least $3.3 billion.

In the House, six members of New Jersey’s delegation signed a “Dear Colleague” letter supporting $2.6 billion for funding for the McKinney-Vento Homelessness Assistance Program.

In the Senate both Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez signed the Senate letter supporting $2.6 billion for funding for the McKinney-Vento Homelessness Assistance Program.

In the House, two members of New Jersey’s delegation signed a “Dear Colleague” letter supporting at least $21.2 billion for Tenant-Based Section 8 Rental Assistance including $19.3 billion for renewal vouchers.

In the House, seven members of New Jersey’s delegation signed the “Dear Colleague” letter asking for $1.6 billion in HUD funding for the HOME program.

In the House, two members of New Jersey’s delegation signed the “Dear Colleague” letter concerned about funding for Housing for Vulnerable Populations. The letters asked for full funding for Public Housing Operating Account, $5 billion for Public Housing Capital Fund, full funding for Housing Choice Vouchers, full funding to renew all Project-Based Rental Assistance contracts, full funding for Section 202 Supportive Housing for the Elderly and an additional $25 million to fund new units, and full funding for Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities and an additional $25 million to fund new units.
