Federal Threats to Health Care and Anti-Poverty Programs in 2018 Webinar

Health Care and Anti-Poverty Webinar Wed, Jan 10, 2018 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM EST

Much like 2017, congressional Republican leaders are already talking about a 2018 legislative agenda that takes aim at federal Anti-Poverty programs that help families of limited means afford food, housing, health care, and other basic needs, whether by attempting to repeal the Affordable Care Act (again) or using the budget reconciliation process to cut these programs under the misleading name of “welfare reform.”

We had some fantastic successes beating back these attacks in 2017, and we can build on those successes to fight back in 2018-starting now.

In this webinar, Center on Budget and Policy Priorities staff will walk through the federal threats to health care and anti-poverty programs we expect in 2018 and key moments in the debate. Although we won’t know the exact timing or nature of every single threat, we can still begin our public education and engagement efforts and prepare for what lies ahead.

Please note that this webinar is geared towards state advocates; it is not for legislative staff or members of the media and is not on the record.
