Registration Now Open for Congressional Reception and We Need You to Tell Our Elected Officials That Opportunity Starts at Home and No Cuts to Housing
Registration has opened for the July 25, 2018 Congressional Reception! Please register today and join us in Washington, DC on Wednesday, July 25 for a day of advocacy on Capitol Hill. The registration includes a $10 bus confirmation fee for round trip bus transportation from one of six locations in New Jersey to D.C. Your $10 cost helps defray the expenses of the event and will make the Congressional Reception an even bigger success than last year! If you choose to travel on your own, there is no cost.
Prior to registering we recommend you use this link to verify the Congressional District that you live in.
This year’s reception builds on the success of the 2016 and 2017 New Jersey Congressional Receptions.
This year’s Congressional Reception focuses on themes No Cuts to Housing and remind them that Opportunity Starts at Home. Cuts are hurting our communities that serve low-income families, the homeless and those with special needs.
Once you register for the Congressional Reception, how else can you help make July 25, 2018 Congressional Reception a Success?
- Let us know if you or someone else who has been impacted by homelessness would like to share your story with elected officials. If you or someone you know is interested, contact Kate Kelly at Monarch Housing Associates for more information.
- Ask your organization or recruit another organization to become a partner for the Congressional Reception.
The success of the Receptions is based on the support of our partners. We are still recruiting new partners to ensure the success of this year’s Congressional Reception.
We have two partner levels:
- $400 (max) Community Sponsor
- $800 (max) Capitol Sponsor
The impact of sequestration and budget cuts has reduced the budget of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as well as other domestic programs. The lack of affordable homes and the resources needed to maintain existing public housing has created an affordable housing state of emergency in NJ.
