Advance Housing held a ribbon cutting event on April 29, 2011 for its Demarest Farms of Lafayette project, which features the adaptive re-use of an existing barn that has been converted into (10) units of affordable, permanent and supportive housing. The tenants will be persons with a mental illness, homeless individuals, veterans, and victims of domestic violence.

On March 18, 2011, HUD awarded a Choice Neighborhoods Grant to the Jersey City Housing Authority which is partnering with The Michaels Development Company and Metrovest Equities to develop a Transformation Plan for the McGinley Square–Montgomery Corridor neighborhood including the Montgomery Gardens. Monarch Housing is also part of this initiative.

On Friday April 8, 2011, HUD released the FY2010 Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for Section 811 Supportive Housing for Persons with Disabilities. The application deadline date is June 23, 2011. All applications must be received by Grants.gov no later than 11:59:59 p.m. eastern time on the application deadline date.
