The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced HUD-VASH vouchers on April 6, valued $43 million to 325 local public housing agencies.
HUD-VASH vouchers are critical tools in the effort to end veteran homelessness and Congress extended the deadline to make HUD-VASH vouchers available.
In October, Congressman Albio Sires (D-NJ-8) and Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. (D-NJ-10) will host Veterans Claims Clinics to assist veterans with benefits.
There are 40,000 homeless veterans including 13,000 on the street. The Obama administration has been working to end veterans homelessness by 2015.
Joining the 111,000 formerly homeless veterans who have already found homes with HUD/VASH, thousands more brave veterans will be housed.
