DCA and the Long Branch Housing Authority will receive a total of $908,821 to provide vouchers and services for 94 homeless veterans in NJ.
Supportive Services for Veteran Families
Seven projects, three renewals and four new projects, received a total of $11,678,705. The seven projects will provide assistance to 2,664 to prevent homelessness for veterans.
On Wednesday, May 15, the House passed H.R. 384, the Homes for Heroes Act, which was introduced by Representative Al Green and co-sponsored by Congressmen Holt and LoBiondo.
The bill, H.R. 933, funds most of the federal government at FY 2012 levels through September 30, 2013, but includes anomalies, or spending exceptions, for certain key programs.
In total, homeless assistance programs within Veterans Affairs received a 33% increase in FY 2013. These programs are exempt from sequestration – the levels included in the funding bill are the final levels.
